Types of coffee machines
Nespresso is a coffee concept based on the use of long-lasting ground coffee in aluminum coffee cups. Nestlé developed this concept. Both the capsule and the method of making coffee are patented, which initially meant that you could only make coffee exclusively with Nespresso cups from Nestlé.
Nespresso cups
If you put a Nespresso capsule in the machine, you make coffee at the touch of a button. The device perforates the cup and presses hot water through it under pressure of 19 bar. You then throw the cup away.
Nespresso cups
The cups or capsules are quite expensive, but since some of the patents expired in 2012, all kinds of other coffee brands have also been producing the capsules. These also fit in the Nespresso machines, which makes drinking coffee somewhat cheaper. However, the question remains to what extent this is a cheap alternative to the version of coffee from the fully automatic coffee machine.
Types of coffee machines
Coffee from ESE pads approaches the taste of real fresh coffee. These pads resemble Senseo pads but are of much better quality. Each pad is sealed airtight. The taste is often experienced as very good. However, the ESE pads or servings are expensive to use. The price of the machines is between a fully automatic bean machine and a Nespresso or Dolce Gusto machine.
ESE Servings
The ESE pads were invented by Illy and are also called E.S.E (Easy Serving Espresso Pod). These are small compressed coffee pads containing 7 grams of coffee. The pad is used in special espresso machines that fit these pads. You should not compare the pads with Senseo pads because the quality is much higher. Not only Illy offers the pads. For example, Lavazza and various private labels also offer the pads. Some E.S.E. machines also contain a piston in which you can put freshly ground coffee. That is very advantageous and you can choose how you want to make coffee.
Types of coffee machines
Dolce Gusto is a concept of Nescafé. Dolce Gusto Coffee Machines work in the so-called Dolce Gusto way. This means that you can make coffee at home with the push of a button. Dolce Gusto has an enormous versatility of coffee types and even tea and chocolate milk. The concept is comparable to that of Nespresso.
More than 30 types with Dolce Gusto
This way you can make intense black coffees, deliciously creamy white coffees, refreshing tea and sweet chocolate treats, you can choose from more than 30 types.
Dolce Gusto Machine
In the Dolce Gusto concept you use sealed coffee cups. You make fresh coffee under pressure of 15 bar. There are many people who really like the cups of Dolce Gusto. The cups are a bit more expensive than fresh coffee but the machine is much cheaper. Whether you like the house brand cups for Dolce Gusto just as much as the original Nescafé ones, you should decide for yourself. In any case, we have already seen machines for €50 and the most expensive device we saw costs around €300. With the fully automatic bean machine you can make delicious fresh coffee. You fill the machine with fresh coffee beans. When you make a cup of coffee, the beans are first ground and a cup of coffee is automatically made from the freshly ground coffee. Most machines have the option to adjust the grinding degree and strength. You can also make a latte macchiato or a cappuccino with most machines.
Fresh coffee from coffee beans
The purchase price of most automatic bean machines is somewhat higher. The basic machines start at around 350 euros but they go up to over 1000 euros. That seems expensive but grinding fresh beans is much cheaper than buying coffee cups from Nespresso or Dolce Gusto or ESE pads. For those who drink more than one cup a day, it is quickly an advantageous choice. Of course you can also buy very expensive beans but you should not compare apples with oranges. If you buy expensive coffee beans you should also compare them with the more expensive Nespresso or Dolce Gusto coffee cups or ESE pads.
